I had a marriage of 28 years implode and the wasband walk out on me and my son with intellectual disabilities and other complex medical needs. Although I am very educated, I had sacrificed my highest earning years to raise two children, care, and advocate and raise my son. Mind you, my education, expertise and research also helped bolster his career. I called Mandee’s office desperate to find an attorney and team that would fight for me, but also my son. However, I fought, somehow stayed sane while advocating for myself, and being a loud voice for my son. My fight worked, he is now in a safe, stable, placement where he is thriving and happy. Mandee and her team were part of the village that kept me going, took my calls, emails and knew that if my son was ok, I’d be ok too. I had to restart my life at 52, live alone for the first time as an adult, look for a job, sometimes have no money for rent, food, utilities because the wasband was refusing to help me or my son. But, I am grateful to God and the universe for the smaller group of true ride or die friends and family.
