Its been over a year ago that Hired Jim pettus. I was triggered today in court as im working on a case pro se. The Judge told me I should hire an attorney and all I could think about is the time Jim pettus filed an entry of appearance took my thousands of dollars and withdrew from my case without even getting me into a courthouse in front of a judge. Stay away from this law firm.... ill never forget that.

My family hired him after the passing of our mother for a probate case, he saw our emotional state as an opportunity instead of a responsibility. He sold us confidence, promises, a game plan and reassurance in the beginning — then disappeared the second he got our $3,000. Calls went unanswered. Court filing dates missed. Messages ignored. Court appearances botched. Weeks and months of nothing. He was more concerned with flattering the opposing council than fulfilling his promises to his client. The only time anything suddenly started happening in our case was after we made it clear we were considering requesting our money back. Then magically, paperwork started being filed and invoices started being created to drain every last dollar of the retainer. The billing was insulting. Charging for pointless text msg communications and padding invoices after doing no meaningful work on the case as he had promised, it was flat out dishonest and looking back I see now it was calculated. Genuinely his office put more effort into falsifying his invoices than actually helping our family fight the case. On top of that, every in-person interaction was uncomfortable and deeply unprofessional. He frequently lit cigars on front of our infant child, always smelled heavily of alcohol. Once he was paid he acted aggressively, scattered and incoherently. Constantly threatening to drop our case if we requested updates or forward motion. Nothing about my experience inspired trust, competence, or professionalism. He is a clown and the courts know it. This attorney talks a big game and knows how to take control of a room when people are emotional and vulnerable, but when it comes time to actually do the work, he becomes impossible to reach. Don’t let it happen to you. Our family left the experience feeling manipulated, frustrated , and financially exploited during one of the hardest periods of our lives. There are hardworking, ethical attorneys out there. In my opinion, Jim has never been one of them. Proceed with extreme caution.

I have known Jim Cole for years and he has never done me wrong.

Jim is a very reasonable, and honorable lawyer. He will get the job done. He asks the right questions to get things started, and is reasonably prompt in filing said court documents related to your issue.
He has a good sense of humor, and does a good job taking care of his clients.
