Dorean Petonic’s practice is a stark example of professional entrenchment and procedural incompetence. After decades in the Westmoreland County system, she appears to have developed a blatant disregard for the Pennsylvania Rules of Civil Procedure, specifically regarding mandatory filing deadlines and the requirement for objective investigation.
Her 'evaluations' frequently overstep the legal boundaries of a Guardian Ad Litem, as she routinely offers unlicensed clinical opinions while ignoring verified medical evidence. When a court officer prioritizes their own biases and administrative convenience over the actual safety of children and the due process rights of parents, they are no longer fit for their appointment. Her inability to adhere to basic legal standards makes her a liability to the court and a danger to the families she is assigned to serve. She is functionally incompetent and should not be holding a position of such immense public trust.

In the mid eighties, Doreen was hired as a guardian ad litem for my son. My husband and I were in a custody battle for my son. I tried for years to prove the abuse not only I but my son suffered at the hands of his father. Doreen was SUPPOSED to be ensuring he was protected. Instead my son endured years of emotional and physical abuse at the hands of his father, My son was so afraid of his Dad that he kept telling everyone he wanted to live with his Dad. That is until his Dad beat him relentlessly at camp and I fought to get him back. Blahovec was the judge, Andrea Shincovich was a counselor, Dennis Donahue was involved as well as Mike Crevack, For the hell my son lived daily because of all of you, supposed unqualified KNOW-IT-ALLS- I wish you the same.

She has been representing my granddaughter for 11 years. She has been the worst Guardian enlighten that I have ever seen. She does not represent her in her best interest. She allows the paternal grandmother brainwash her against her mother and father. She only hears out from the paternal grandmother and never hears me and my daughters side of the story. I thought it was in the best interest of the child to have a relationship with her mother and father. Her relationship with the father is no more. Now she is working with the maternal grandmother to take my daughters parental rights away. I advise anyone who has dealings with Doreen to run clear from her because she will definitely not do what is right in the situation.
