I’m only giving two stars because of the kind way that one of the front desk people/paralegals treated me during the darkest 2 years of non-stop attacks after officially reporting Gender Pay Discrimination during mine and my son‘s life as a single parent with no family and no support system. It also landed me with an injury that was used as pretext/temporal proximity, and the injury in my dominant arm is getting worse and worse. Being asked to not return to work and having my position release and being told, I have to have 0 restrictions Is not legal and I’m not an attorney, but I still know that that’s not legal. I was so excited to have a consultation with an actual attorney at this particular firm and I waited a week. I of course knew that there would be no guarantees, but when I set up the consultation, nobody told me how much time the consultation would be for. I even asked if there’s anything I should have in front of me/ready for the consultation and was told “no.” Well that backfired and I was asked questions that completely caught me off guard due to two years of accumulative trauma. Keeping a roof over you and your child’s head is NBD I guess. My mental health along with my son’s (who is on an IEP) has suffered greatly from all of this which was surprising to me, considering that this law firm is known for being a big supporter of psychological safety in the workplace. Recall with the attorney ended with me having to state I guess I’ll have to fight this on my own and potentially end up on the streets if I’m not successful and was basically told “OK bye.” I specifically looked up to Mahir’s office. And thought that I would actually be genuinely heard for the first time…not just with ears, but with heart and that was not the case whatsoever… I was simply treated like cattle as most conversations with attorneys go. I am incredibly disappointed, and if I’m being honest, it has tanked my mental health even further and that’s not because I need to see a therapist it’s because of the way I was treated. Especially as someone who is part of the Libnan diaspora having to watch and know what is happening to my kin daily. The Levant includes Falasteen. We are neighbors. We are cousins. We are sisters. We are brothers. I was appalled at the way my “free consultation with an attorney“ unfolded today after excitedly waiting a week for it. It was the first time I had a bit of hope and instead it made me have even less trust or anything of that sort in employment law attorneys. Unless you have money to shell out, you may as well go and buy a tent and live on the street with your child who is in elementary school on an IEP.
