Our experience with Newman & Newman has been devastating. During a real estate closing handled by their office, a $571,000 loan payoff was misdirected following an email compromise, and the changed payoff information was not independently verified before the funds were wired. We are a small real estate development business, and the consequences of an error of this magnitude have been enormous. Four months later, this matter is still not resolved and we remain out a significant amount of money with a loan remaining unpaid accruing interest daily. What has made an already TERRIBLE situation even worse has been what we have experienced as a complete lack of urgency, proactive communication and accountability from the firm. Given the seriousness of what happened, we expected someone to take ownership of the situation, communicate with us consistently and do everything possible to bring it to a prompt resolution. Instead, we have repeatedly had to chase for information while months have passed. Mistakes can happen in any business. What matters enormously is how a business responds when something goes catastrophically wrong. Four months into this ordeal, we do not feel Newman & Newman has taken responsibility for the impact this has had on us or demonstrated the urgency this situation deserves. This has caused genuine financial and personal heartache and harm for us, and based on our experience, we simply cannot recommend this firm. We hope to be able to update this review with a better rating if we get this resolved in the near future.
