I hired Brett Nelson’s office expecting experienced legal guidance and professional representation. Instead, I walked away after paying $5,000 for very little actual value beyond a basic response filing and an unnecessarily expensive initial meeting.

From the beginning, the process felt overstaffed and overbilled. My first in-person meeting included six people in the room, which felt excessive and appeared designed to maximize billing rather than help move my case forward efficiently.

I specifically requested to work with a junior attorney familiar with my matter, but instead Brett Nelson took over the conversation despite having little to no background knowledge of my case or what I had already been through personally and financially. Rather than listening and understanding the situation first, the interaction immediately became confrontational and judgmental.

What concerned me most was how offended he seemed when I made it clear I did not want to turn a decree modification into a full-blown custody war. He also appeared irritated that I questioned opinions being given before anyone had truly reviewed the details of my case, and there was obvious pressure to utilize additional “resources” and services that I was not comfortable committing to.

Instead of feeling supported or strategically advised, I left feeling attacked, unheard, and financially taken advantage of during an already difficult time in my life.
