I hired John back in 2018 to handle a case for me. I continued to pay as needed ( several thousands of dollars). This past December 2022 we we’re finally ready to go to trial. He sent emails letting me know when my trial date was. The following week I get an email stating that he had canceled my trial because he didn’t think we would win and all of the other persons lawyers had quit on her. She also moved to a different state (as if that had anything to do with me). He did contact the other party and said he could make it go away if she signed off on it. John also filed “with prejudice” meaning no other lawyer can ever file against the other party.

When my wife (who is an estate lawyer) told John what he did was illegal, he said “well we both know it was but I thought it was the best thing to do”. We then asked would we get any money back and he said “No”. I truly think John has a great practice if you’re looking from a crooks prospective. That is: get as much money as he can from his client, then cancel the case right before trial, keep all the client’s money and do the same to the next client.

I spoke to John last week and asked him to produce all my receipts on how much I paid him. He provided me the wrong number, which was also an estimate. I told him he had a week to do the right thing or I was filing a Bar Complaint. The Bar doesn’t tolerate lawyers like him. They will ask for far more than I’m asking for. I will be filing a complaint on Monday morning along with retaining another lawyer. At that point I’ll be asking for the same damages as I was asking for before he canceled my trail. DO NOT HIRE THIS GUY. I’m sure he does this with a lot of his clients. To be honest, the only reason I retained him was because my brother-in-law suggested him. After mentioning this to my brother-in-law, well he was very disappointed and shocked.

Again, I will be filing a complaint with the Bar and anyone who has been done wronged by John McArthur now know your rights. Prior to becoming a lawyer you must get sworn in under oath that you will protect your client. John did the opposite. One ⭐️ is actually being generous.
