As a child of divorce speaking strictly off experience to write this post. I believe Terry Maurer takes on any client with a wallet. Seeing this man appear shocked by everything that his client said on the stand is a bad sign. In my opinion, Terry should have dropped my parent as a client in early stages of court proceedings, instead he continued to represent the deceitful client, possibly to suck them dry, if you will. When I asked for a parent’s tax information (his client), he couldn’t even get his client to forfeit information for my FAFSA. It’s really sad that Terry had to deny me access to documents necessary to financial aid but continued to represent the bad parent. He even went as far as to tell my parent “I hate parents like you, you’re the worst kind of parent”… I felt bad for Terry at first, but we saw him at the next court date as he continued to represent this parent. At the next court date he tried to suspend the parenting rights of the parent I resided with based on false allegations. Let me be clear, he only tried to suspend parenting rights for my younger sibling, but not me. Basically, it was okay for me to live in a household with alleged abuse but not my younger sibling. I would love for someone to logic that with me. I’m here now Terry, as a child of divorce telling you to do better. Interview and pre-screen clients. I hope this review encourages you to review you hearing transcripts and learn from experience. When 2/3 children refuse to reside with your client, don’t run TOWARD the red flags. You owe 3/3 of us an apology, along with the parent you chose to keep batting for. 10/10 do not recommend. I’m sorry that you likely only saw me as a teen girl without a voice, because now I am a grown adult, speaking volumes.
