I hired Thomas Landwerlen and Marc Matheny to represent me in a tort case involving allegations concerning my late father's finances. The case ultimately resulted in a judgment exceeding $300,000 against me. Looking back, I believe I received extremely poor representation and I deeply regret hiring this legal team. Throughout the litigation, I repeatedly raised concerns and provided information that I believed was critical to my defense. Unfortunately, many of the issues that I considered most important were either not presented, not developed, or not aggressively challenged. One of my biggest concerns was that many of my father's own legal documents were never presented to the court. These included documents that I believed were directly relevant to his wishes, finances, care arrangements, and the authority under which decisions were being made on his behalf. In a case centered on my father's finances and care, I expected the court to be shown all significant legal documents so it could evaluate the complete picture. Instead, I was left questioning why important records were never fully presented to the judge. I was also disappointed that important evidence regarding my father's VA Aid and Attendance benefits and caregiving arrangements was not fully developed before the court. There was a written caregiving arrangement and documentation relating to the VA program. I believed these records were highly relevant because they explained how my father qualified for benefits, how his care was being provided, and how funds were being used for his benefit. Yet these issues were not presented in the way I expected. Another major concern involved the financial calculations being presented to the court. In my opinion, my father's legitimate expenses, bills, care costs, and financial obligations were not properly accounted for when damages were being calculated. I also believed there were instances where plaintiffs had already received gifts or compensation from my father, yet those issues were not aggressively challenged when damages were sought. I was left questioning why these matters were not more thoroughly addressed. I was further troubled by what I believed was a mistaken identity issue contained within the verified complaint. From my perspective, information was being associated with another individual who shared my name and lived in the same county. I believed this issue should have been thoroughly investigated and presented to the court because it directly affected the accuracy of some of the allegations being made against me. Instead, it appeared to receive little attention. I also had serious concerns regarding witness testimony and credibility issues that were not fully explored. One plaintiff signed a verified complaint, yet I do not recall meaningful questioning regarding whether the allegations had actually been reviewed before the document was signed. Another plaintiff claimed significant memory problems, but I did not see the type of inquiry I expected regarding medical support for those claims. At the same time, that individual appeared capable of independently handling many aspects of daily life. I believed these issues should have been more thoroughly examined. I was also troubled by the handling of investigative testimony. A private investigator testified regarding an individual who was described as fictitious or nonexistent. From my perspective, those conclusions appeared to be based largely on database searches. At the same time, there was testimony and evidence suggesting family members had communicated with this individual and statements indicating attorneys had spoken with her as well. These contradictions raised significant questions for me, yet I did not feel they were adequately challenged.

Very rude and dismissive. He does not offer any legal advice or best route even if he cannot take the case as probate. He wouldn’t even give advice on a civil case. I won’t be reaching out or recommending him for services.

Esquire Marc W. Matheny came highly recommended by a retired lawyer through the justice center. It's a blessing and an honor to have professionalism, knowledgeable and kindness all rolled up into one attorney.
I recommend this gentleman to the highest, if you want "The Best" in probate.
In the future I'll be using strictly this law firm.
