** I am writing this as a warning for any woman who may be trying to get away from an abuser or leave a marriage secretly and safely as this law firm put me in a dangerous situation. I called to schedule a consultation with Leviner Law Firm after they were recommended to me by a co-worker. I left a message, and a few days later Adele called me back to schedule a consult. I don't know if she is older, but she kept asking me the same information over and over that I had already given her, and I had to repeat myself frequently. Then, she asked for my estranged husband's information. I asked her why she needed his information, to which she gave me a sort of vague response that if we decided on a simple divorce, they could reach out to him (even though they were representing me, which seemed weird..) after some hesitation, I gave her his cell number, after she told me MULTIPLE times he would not be contacted. A few days later, my estranged husband texted me that Leviner Law Firm had reached out to HIM via voicemail, looking for me, because they needed to reschedule my appointment. They left my name, appointment date and time in the voicemail to HIS number. I called the law firm very upset, and I said to Adele, "How do you know now that my husband isn't going to hurt me or our kids? I didn't want him to know I was making an appointment with an attorney." My estranged husband is a bi-polar alcoholic, and I told her now I didn't feel safe with him being home with our children because now he knew I was looking into filing for divorce, and I repeatedly asked her why he was contacted and how there could have been a mix up with something so serious. She really didn't have an explanation and kept apologizing. Come to find out, ADELE had written the wrong appointment time down, so long and short I never needed to even reschedule my appointment because the time she had given me was fine, so the whole thing happened for NO REASON AT ALL! I know mistakes happen, but depending on this situation this could be a life or death mistake. I then asked to speak to the office manager or the lawyer because I was very upset at the mix up. Later that day, Dani (the lawyer) called me to apologize. I told her I wasn't mad at her, but now because of a mistake her office person made, my estranged husband now knew my plans and it put me in a very tense and uncomfortable situation, and thank God it wasn't a DV situation like some women find themselves in where they are doing everything in secret because this could have ended much worse than it did. She offered to give me an appointment the next day instead of waiting until the end of the month, but I declined. Later that day, I received another phone call from Adele looking for a "Mr. Knox" - I told her she had the wrong phone number, so again she is still getting mixed up and is clearly disorganized, which in a law firm, you feel like would be a huge deal and an automatic termination. After speaking to family and friends about the mix up and seeing their horrified reactions, I ended up canceling my consult all together and booking with another firm. Dani did call me again to apologize after I canceled my appointment. I am super disappointed because I was looking forward to working with this firm, but after Adele jeopardized the safety of my family, I am no longer confident in their abilities.

Beware of poorly written articles advising women to stay and work it out with narcissistic abusers.
