Back in 2014, I was referred to R. Christine Brown's Office by another elder law attorney who was working on my Mothers estate planning. Mom had previously set up an estate plan with said attorney, when mom had her first of several strokes which incapacitated her and she was no longer to able to speak or make informed choices. Said attorney was no longer able to take on moms case anymore as so much more needed to now be done, and thus I was referred to R. Christine Brown's office. I was originally greeted by Carol Murray, the paralegal, her compassion and concern is what made me want to work with this office. Then I met R. Christine Brown, and knew immediately that she was the right one to move forward with, she displayed the knowledge and expertise I felt was needed in order to make mom's estate planning wishes come to fruition. And she had the resolve to handle how difficult this case was going to be, based on all the information I provided her with. My moms case had so many facets to it which made it much more complicated going forward, BUT, R. Christine Brown sat me down, explained all the many steps we needed to hurdle to finalize moms wishes, and I appreciated her directness and sometimes even needed her "tough love," to get me through all the steps, and after much work, Moms wishes became reality. I am no legal expert by any means, but with what needed to be done, I trusted everything that Both Carol and Christine needed to do, they always took the time to sit me down and explain every move, and also everything I needed to do step by step. I had to first become my Mother's conservator, then we had to file for a substituted Judgement to make moms wishes she drew up with the previous attorney binding and legal, Christine also helped me through an eviction process and the selling of my mother's house, which was by far the hardest thing to swim through. And sadly when my mother passed, her and Carol walked me thru the distribution of the estate, but with their guidance and concern and empathy they displayed, we made it. I know what hard choices needed to be made AFTER mom had her strokes, and I wish that we had not put off what needed to be done as much as we had delayed, because if this was done beforehand it would have been so much more easy to navigate the waters because a plan would have been set in motion. I speak from experience now, and say, please do not put off or delay this very important process, yes it may seem daunting and even overwhelming in the moment, but a very wise man (my Father) always said, "DON'T PUT OFF TILL TOMORROW, WHAT CAN BE DONE TODAY." I have referred many friends and other Family to the law office's of R. Christine Brown, because I know that she knows what she is doing, I have experienced it first hand, and am forever thankful for the help her office provided during the most difficult time in my life. Hildegard, and Karl (This was the very last picture I took with my mom, April 8th, 2018, she passed 8 days later on April 16, 2018, She had just turned 85 years old.)
