I initially had another attorney representing me. She was great, but due to personal issues, I had to make a difficult choice to switch representation. My neighbor, a retired police officer, recommended Tom Kenny. He had worked with Tom in his line of work and had Tom represent his daughter in court for a divorce.

I had already been in court for over 3 years, had a previous GAL and multiple pretrial hearings. However, due to unforeseen circumstances, my daughter's therapist was no longer available and I had a switch of judges one month before my case would have been finalized. My ex took advantage of the change in judge, requested a new GAL, lied about everything, and made constant accusations through motions. He put me in a position where my daughter was temporarily taken from me.

This is where Tom came in. My former attorney told me, "He's a good guy" and worked to transfer all documentation to him. I had heard his name and his brother's name constantly being assigned as a GAL in other cases at court. When he took over my case, he came in ready to battle. His expertise as a GAL and highly respected reputation in court, made my ex know he was not playing their games. He was very thorough and advised me on the best course of action to take. He got my daughter back to me right away.

In the middle of all of this, I was diagnosed with cancer and my ex wasted no time to use this against me. All I can say is that Tom protected me, but made sure he did what was best for my daughter. I know this was the GAL in him. He never made needless motions or meetings to extract extra money as I have heard so many other attorneys do. Every action he took was with a purpose and to get an agreement in place. No matter what angle my ex took with his legal team, Tom was ready.

Unfortunately, I did have to go to trial. But every move, every single question Tom made was done with a purpose. My ex had 2 attorneys, who were both also GALs, representing him. I had Tom (GAL) and there was the court assigned GAL to my case. At trial, the court had 4 GALS in the room, and the best won, which was Tom of course. He blew the others out of the water. My sister who has worked with multiple law firms in downtown Chicago was extremely impressed by him.

My ex even accused me of being "terminal" to DCFS, in order to get custody of my daughter. It was a clown show with him and Tom made sure it was evident in court. If it wasn't for Tom, I sincerely doubt I would have gotten my daughter back. As a single mother of 2 girls, Tom came in as my savior, and this is not an exaggeration. At court, the majority of time I went alone, but having Tom as my representation, I breathed a sigh of relief and gained strength and courage knowing that he was by my side.

I am forever grateful for Tom for all that he did. I would highly recommend him (and constantly do), especially in high conflict cases.
