I would recommend John J. Martin, Esq. to anyone who needs a real estate attorney in Northern PA. I had a situation where my two sisters tried to force me into selling jointly owned property. Their demands and behaviors were shocking to me, and I honestly didn't know what to do. I felt bullied and confused. Rather than "give" them my share of the property at a significant financial loss to me, I contacted the office of John J. Martin in Honesdale, PA. From the first phone call, his staff was polite and courteous. He spoke to me on the phone for a length of time, explaining how "this should have gone" and how it could be fixed. His approach was to be fair but firm and for me to know that I could not be easily taken advantage of by my sisters. In the end, my sisters were forced to accept the fair deal that I had offered in the first place: get an independent appraisal and make the sale to them based on the value established by the appraiser. My sisters attempted to bully me into taking "their deal," and I sincerely believe that they never would have budged if I didn't have a competent lawyer to represent me. The sale was completed in a timely fashion, and I am no longer part of that real estate. I am very grateful to Mr. Martin for helping me.
The best part of having Mr. Martin and his staff on my side was, once they were retained, I didn't have to worry about it anymore. His office handled all of the phone calls and communications from my sister's lawyer. They always answered my phone calls and gave me support when I had questions. They were friendly, but also very professional.
Retaining Mr. Martin was money well spent. He saved me months of daily agonizing over my sister's attitudes and behaviors. He helped me resolve this in the only way I ever wanted: the fair way.
