On September 3, 2025, I attended a free consultation with Eugene Palacios seeking advice regarding my immigration case. After only a brief discussion, I was told that I had a permanent bar to adjustment and that my only realistic option was to move to Canada and wait before pursuing lawful permanent residence.

Fortunately, I sought a second opinion.

After speaking with another immigration attorney who was knowledgeable about my situation and current immigration law, I was informed that I was in fact eligible to adjust status through my U.S. citizen spouse. My adjustment of status application was filed in February and approved in May, resulting in my green card being issued.

Had I relied solely on the advice I received from Eugene Palacios, I could have unnecessarily uprooted my life, moved to another country, spent significant money, and delayed my immigration process for years.

Immigration cases are far too important to trust to someone who makes such serious legal conclusions after only a brief consultation and without accurately understanding the law. My experience suggests that this attorney either lacked the necessary knowledge of immigration law or failed to properly analyze my case.

If your future in the United States is important to you, get a second opinion before acting on any advice you receive here. Doing so may save you years of unnecessary hardship, expense, and stress.
