We simply asked about using a trust to keep the grantors’ names off a deed. That prompted a lengthy response about the miseducated public, that she does not do asset protection, and that we should instead be looking for lawyers who handle corporate and foreign business structures. The problem was that I had never said anything about asset protection. When I clarified that, she responded: The goal of doing that is to protect your assets, what else could it be? Thanks for the unsolicited opinion, I suppose. Who doesn’t love unsolicited opinions from strangers? Fortunately, the entire consultation lasted only about 11 minutes. For me, that was enough.
