Being unfamiliar with the divorce process, I admittedly made some mistakes in proceeding through my own. The biggest of these mistakes, by far, was hiring Michael George to represent me.
If you love your children (and your financial well being going forward), stay away from this guy. Whatever he offers is simply not worth the risk. There are plenty of attorneys in Fredericksburg, and better to take your chances with another option. Buyer beware.
UPDATE:
Since Mr. George decided to reply to my review, it's worth providing some additional clarification here.
The crux of Mr. George's argument is that he worked with me 12 years ago. He then makes several misleading statements, adds some gaslighting, and offers some false sympathy at the end.
Let's unpack Mr. George's various claims:
1. Mr. George uses a distancing tactic to say that he worked with me 12 years ago, so anything that may have prompted my review must be due to recent events. It's plausible, but this is just speculation.
2. Mr. George says that I was happy with the outcome of my case. This is absolutely false and the documentation from my case does not support his claim. Mr. George's words here simply do not square with reality and they are not defensible.
2a. Mr. George's bit about the website is also not true. What happened was that, at the end of my case, I was left by Mr. George on the edge of bankruptcy. He then had the audacity to send me an invoice for additional services. This was like adding insult to injury. I wrote him back and said that I had no way of paying the invoice given my circumstances, but maybe what I could do for him, instead, was to start telling my story about the outcome of my case. The invoice immediately went away and I never heard from Mr. George again.
3. Mr. George finishes by making inferences about my mental health and claiming that I am stalking him. Common sense says that, if you want to write a higher-quality review, you should include photos. Stopping by Mr. George's public office to snap a couple of photos took me five minutes. Stalking someone would look very different. On another level, Mr. George's words here are slightly defamatory and, frankly, he should know better than to take this line of argument--especially in a public forum.
If you're looking for a sample of the kind of thought and sophistication that Mr. George brings to his work, this is it. He just gave it to you. He shows up being careless, irresponsible, inaccurate, lazy, and a little dumb.
Here's what really prompted my review:
I was deeply affected by the negative impacts of working with Mr. George. It took me several years to put together the details of what happened. Over time, it occurred to me that, if he did what he did to me, then he may have also done it to other people. And it also occurred to me that, if he did what he did to me, then he may also do that to other people in the future. And, at that point, I realized that I had a responsibility to let others know about working with Mr. George. That's it.
If you have anything at stake in your legal matter, it is not worth the risk of putting those things in Mr. George's hands. There are many other attorneys in Fredericksburg, and it would be worth doing the research, asking around, and finding more trustworthy representation.
