I am so grateful I found John Hutto when I did. I was put under investigation by the TN Board of Health for concerns regarding my prescribing of Suboxone and other medications to treat Opioid Use Disorder. It was seriously the most absurd investigation considering TN is in the top 5 for opioid/heroin overdoses, but their governor (and I quote) feels that Suboxone is "being overprescribed in Tennessee." So, I had to hire an attorney who was not only familiar with TN law but was also familiar with nursing licensure and healthcare policy. I knew I needed someone from the south because not only am I a woman, I am from Ohio so 2 dings against me from the start. John was one of the only attorneys who took my call and explained to me what to expect and why they targeted me as a prescriber. He was so knowledgeable and kept reminding me that emotions and what was fair and right had nothing to do with how this case would go. He was present at every interview/deposition and helped keep me from saying too much or getting upset when I felt I had been wronged. He kept in touch with me throughout the 9 months that this investigation dragged on. Eventually I was given a warning and told that they no longer wanted my services in TN. I know that I would not have had this outcome if not for hiring John and I would advise ANYONE with a license to protect...NEVER go up against a state board WITHOUT an attorney.
