So yesterday afternoon, Heather officially adopted Zoe and I’ll be honest. I was a big baby the whole time and I couldn’t stop crying. I was just so happy and so grateful.
Zoe followed Heather’s lead of course and somehow held it together, but you could see it in her eyes. She was ready, she knew what this day meant. When we walked into that courtroom and heard the judge make it official, I felt years of pain lift right off our shoulders. She had a heart big enough to hold everyone, and I know she was right there in spirit. Along with Heather’s Mom and my Uncle Bob all smiling down on us in that courtroom.
