Quoted me a very reasonable price to prepare paperwork and handle legal issues for me regarding my parent's probate, will, and trust. We agreed on the fee and that he would charge me through the sale of the home. When I went to pick up the paperwork, he all of a sudden wasnt there for a month, nor could he return any of my 30 phone calls. Finally, I showed up at his office for the long over due paper work I needed asap...and he held them hostage while demanding 5k....thats five thousand dollars. Right now he said...5k in his hand or no paperwork. It seems he forgot about our agreed upon payment plan and fees...and he just lost his mind. I was sick for a week after this event....emotionally that is.....due to the fact I have never had that kind of trauma come from a trusted attorney before. The thought that people like him exist, made me terrified for this world. But even scarier.....Barrett Pedersen is the MAYOR OF FRANKLIN PARK AS WELL. So there you have it folks, politics at its finest again, how could I have not known?

Barrett is such a sweet guy and very informative. Local office is in the heart of Franklin Park and his staff is extremely helpful. Highly recommend him!

If you expect to be kept in the loop and updated on your case, do NOT use this attorney! The assistant April is the worst communicator in the world and not helpful whatsoever. I left two messages for Barrett in March of 2018, and here it is June 21st and he still hasn't replied.

Our final bill was also $500 more than the original price quote. Absolutely the worst service.

Warning. Do not use the services of Barrett Pedersen. My experience with his service was awful, when comparing him to many other attorneys in the Chicago Metro area that I've used in the past for similar transactions. Barrett's practice is unethical, as I share his reply after he denies quoting a flat price to me before hiring him. Not to mention, his latency when responding to emails or phone messages or trying to get anything in writing. Now I know why.
Barrett Pedersen's response: "My humble apologies for misquoting a fee to you. I have absolutely no recollection at all of quoting you a fee. I can assure you our office has a reputation for having the highest ethical standards. We occasionally are offered unethical short cuts by other attorneys in real estate transactions to save time and hassle and we decline to participate because our reputation is very important."
Believe me, the only reputation Barrett has in my eyes is as a "shady attorney/politician creating additional service fees without justification."
My strong suggestion is to shop around and hire another attorney willing to provide you an honest service for a flat fee.
