My phone consultation with attorney Kimberly Kramer in August 2024 was offensive and unprofessional. I believe she made assumptions about my race and ethnicity based on my unique name and spoke to me in a dismissive, ableist tone. I’m a former Senior Technical Recruiter with a Master’s in Cybersecurity. I had my financial documents meticulously organized in a shared drive, including clear details of my income, expenses, and disability transition.

She didn’t even bother to look at them. Instead, she interrogated me about my spending and income like I was committing fraud. The irony is that I'm a former Fraud Analyst. If you're trying to collect evidence, that's not how to do it. The entire conversation had a “welfare queen” undertone - condescending, suspicious, and degrading. It felt less like a consultation with a bankruptcy attorney and more like being scolded by a judge on a power trip.

Then came the biggest red flag: she told me my Social Security income might not be protected in bankruptcy. That’s flat-out false. I had just read a NOLO article explaining those protections in detail. How does a bankruptcy attorney not know this? Or worse, why would she pretend not to?

I quickly found another attorney in Saginaw who treated me with professionalism, respected my situation, and secured a fast discharge. If a lawyer makes you feel judged or unsafe during a consultation, leave - and don’t look back. You’re not the problem. They are.

Edit (In reply to attorney 5/22/25): I appreciate the response, but I stand by my review. The consultation occurred in August 2024, and I have documentation confirming that it took place with your office. I provided my full name during intake, and my consultation was scheduled under it. If your internal records don’t reflect that, it’s a problem on your end and not a reason to dismiss my experience.

Let’s be clear: you are trying to gaslight people. Denying that the consultation happened, invoking your review average, and implying I'm somehow working on behalf of a competitor is an attempt to discredit and deflect from a valid, serious complaint. It’s manipulative, and frankly, disturbing.

Using plausible deniability as a strategy instead of addressing concerns with integrity is exactly why people need to protect themselves. I strongly encourage potential and current clients of your firm to document everything. Keep call records, save email confirmations, and where legally allowed, record phone calls. It's clear that accountability won't be taken otherwise.

Fortunately, I found an attorney who treated me with respect and obtained my discharge without condescension or judgment. My review stands as a warning: if something feels off during a consultation, you're probably right. Document everything and don’t let anyone, especially a lawyer, make you feel like you don’t deserve help.

Excellent experience, I’m glad I went with her. She made the process a breeze, and had multiple options to receive needed documents. Which was great with my busy work schedule. Would definitely recommend her to anyone needing legal representation. Her fee is also very reasonable, considering she basically held my hand and walked me through the entire process. Wish I could give them 10 stars instead of 5.
