I had a very disappointing experience with this firm. I retained Shane and paid close to $20,000 in less than a year, yet felt like very little meaningful progress was made on my case. Much of the work ended up falling on me despite having legal representation.

I personally prepared and organized the majority of my case materials, including my own discovery, affidavits, and documentation. While the paralegal was helpful and tried to work within my budget by guiding me on interrogatories and disclosures, I still spent extensive time doing work I believed my legal team would handle. I downloaded and paid for multiple platforms they required (Dropbox, Smokeball, Decipher) created and organized files myself and promptly completed every task asked of me.

I rearranged my work schedule, took time off, and made myself available for calls and meetings whenever needed. I was fully committed to my case and did everything I could to support my legal team.

Despite this, I was ultimately told I needed to pay an additional $10,000 to proceed to trial. When I was unable to meet that demand, the firm withdrew from my case right before trial leaving me to represent myself against a highly experienced opposing attorney.

What was especially difficult to accept was witnessing the same attorney in court telling another client that she could “pay what she could, when she could,” while I was not given that same flexibility despite everything I had already invested financially and personally.

I ended up representing myself at trial and I won. While I am grateful for that outcome, no client should be put in a position where they feel abandoned at such a critical stage after significant financial and personal investment.

I cannot recommend this firm based on my experience.

No one likes to be surprised by their spouse on a weekend with the statement "I have filed for divorce, and you need to get legal representation." I spent the next few days combing the internet and calling around and waiting for callbacks. Then I called Kersh Family Law Firm the first time. I spoke to Hailey. She told me that Amy Abbott had an opening in her calendar for Tuesday that week in the morning. She told me the price of the initial consultation fee, told me where the office was located and what to expect when I arrived. I came on Tuesday morning at my appointed time. I was greeted by Angela who let me know that she worked with Attorney Abbott and would be attending the initial consultation to get the details of my case. After meeting with Amy and Angela, and discussing my goals for the divorce proceedings, Amy told me about the retainer and the fee structure and how everything worked; how best to communicate with her and the team. I was impressed by the fact that everyone in the office (Hailey, Madison, Jill and Josie) was always up to speed on my case when I would call in. If Angela or Amy were not available due to meeting with other clients, I could get a quick update on how everything was going and what the next steps were in the process or if we were waiting on opposing counsel or the court. Divorce itself is an unpleasant, messy and time-consuming process but my exceptional team at Kersh Family Law skillfully and compassionately helped me navigate this lengthy process (~8 months with holidays and delays from opposing counsel and ex-spouse) and attain the best possible outcome for me. Thank you all for making this unpleasant life event less stressful and tedious. I greatly appreciate it.
