My parents used Mr Kahler as an Estate Attorney to create an Estate Plan for them after my mom was diagnosed with Alzheimer's. He charged $6K and created an estate plan that provides no long term care plans. He did not set up an any trusts and their assets are not protected in any way. We tried to meet with him again to create a long term care plan but he canceled on us 3 times an so we had to go elsewhere. Now, 3 years later, we hired a new Estate lawyer who specializes in medical care planning and she confirmed that he made huge mistakes. Unfortunately, because Mom's dementia has progressed to a point that she is no longer competent to make legal decisions, the paperwork she signed with Kahler in 2020 is not able to be changed. And some of those decisions she's agreed to could be financially devastating for my dad (the martial property agreement he had them sign, for instance, means all assets are joint and therefore have to be spent on her medical care, which will be over $10k per month). I would NEVER recommend Mr Kahler as an Estate Planning attorney as he's totally screwed over my parents, and I as the their caretaker as I will not be able to use their assets to pay for my mom's care in the event of my father's death so he's created a plan where I have no way to care for my mom. I'm really angry about what he's done to our family. Save yourself the trouble and money and find a competent Estate lawyer instead.
