Jess and her team are stellar advocates for their clients. I’ve worked with her as opposing counsel in several cases and hold her firm in high regard. She’s well respected in the family law community.

I spoke with a practicing attorney at this firm. He was pleasant and easy to talk to, and I do believe he is an intelligent and well-meaning person. However, there are several reasons why I am leaving a one-star review.

During our conversation, I asked two very direct questions: how many custody cases he has won and lost when representing mothers, and how many he has won and lost when representing fathers. Rather than providing clear answers to either question, he responded that he does not evaluate his work in terms of wins and losses. While I can appreciate that perspective to a degree, the lack of transparency made it difficult for me, as a potential client, to assess his experience and effectiveness. It came across as indirect and, in my view, evasive.

The firm also has a policy of not taking cases once fact discovery has closed. While I understand the reasoning from a procedural standpoint, as a father seeking strong representation, this policy felt rigid and somewhat dismissive of individuals who may need help at critical stages in their case.

Additionally, when I asked about his professional relationships with forensic psychologists—an important component in many custody disputes—he acknowledged that he has very few established professional connections in that area. That raised concerns for me about the level of support available in more complex cases.

Finally, while he stated that he could potentially help me obtain full custody, he was vague when it came to explaining how he would approach that outcome. The lack of a clearly articulated strategy made it difficult to feel confident moving forward.

Overall, while he seems like a decent and capable individual, it felt at times that his allegiance was more aligned with the system itself. When I raised concerns about what I perceive as an ongoing parental preference trend in the courts, he had little to say on the issue. Ultimately, be aware that this firm appears to approach family law in a very conventional, business-as-usual manner.
