I retained Jeremy Clark to represent me in a high-conflict custody case over the past five years. Initially, I believed his familiarity with my case would be an asset, but I was disappointed in how several key matters were handled.

In June 2023, my ex and I were court-ordered to use a co-parenting app, and he was awarded all long weekends. I immediately requested that “long weekends” be defined as school-scheduled holidays only. My concern was that my ex would manipulate sudden school closures due to weather or illness to claim additional time. My request went ignored, and for the past two years, this has been an ongoing issue. Whenever school abruptly closes, I’m pressured to give up my scheduled time—something that’s confusing and upsetting for a child who looks forward to our weekends together.

That same summer, my ex blocked communication between me and my son, and I went two weeks without contact. I emailed my Jeremy requesting he file for the right of first refusal, as my son was frequently being left with his stepmother for extended periods while his father traveled. That email also went unanswered. Jeremy did not follow up with me until nearly a year later in the summer of 2024, when a motion was filed against me.

Despite his advice to “dot our i’s and cross our t’s,” he failed to comply with a key statute involving my son’s therapist—who he had subpoenaed to testify on my behalf. Because he didn’t follow the proper legal procedure, the therapist was not permitted to testify. She was the only party there specifically for my son’s best interest, and she was silenced. I was never informed of this procedural mistake; I had to find it myself while researching the statutes to understand what went wrong.

After I received the court order that my son would no longer live with me primarily, Jeremy told me to “just enjoy my weekends and long summers with him.” He also advised me to inform my son about the possibility of moving so he’d speak to the GAL about his wishes. That advice was used against me in court.

I tried to retain new counsel mid-case, but no attorney would take over. I was told I had a “good attorney,” leaving me with no other choice at that moment.

My sincere advice: find an attorney outside of Boyd County who will communicate clearly, respond timely, stay up to date on family law statutes, and prioritize both you and your child’s best interests.

He did exactly what he told me he would do and was very prompt. The very best outcome I believe and highly recommend.
