We have consulted Allen Hutkin and his law firm on two significant issues. Our community was involved in a class action suit that resulted in the replacement of the water pipes in our home. The settlement was at least 50 pages of heavy legalese and we were worried about signing away future rights. As it turned out we were right to be concerned as they were refusing to repair damage in the kitchen. Several years later, while working for a non-profit, I was diagnosed with breast cancer during a major change in executive management. Unfortunately, the new executive was looking to get rid of staff that had been with the agency for many years. This happened shortly after I had returned to work and had asked for an accommodation due to cognitive challenges I was experiencing because of chemo brain. I was concerned about protecting my job and reputation. Allen consulted with me not only on my plan to request accommodation, but also a year later when my employer requested my departure from the agency. Allen reviewed my separation package and as a result I received twice as much severance as was originally offered. Additionally, I was able to leave the agency on my own terms with dignity and with my reputation unsullied.
