⭐️ 1 Star — Extremely Disappointing Experience I was extremely disappointed by my experience with this law firm, and this was based solely on my experience trying to schedule a consultation. When I initially called, I asked a very straightforward question: whether the firm had anyone who handled or assisted with forensic accounting in family law matters, since this is something the firm advertises on its own website. The woman who answered the phone told me that it was “above her pay grade” to know whether the firm handled this type of work in-house. I found that response incredibly unprofessional, especially when the information is publicly advertised by the firm itself. The next day, I called back to reschedule my consultation. I was initially told they were no longer taking new clients. After I provided my name, I was then told there might be availability about two weeks out. I explained that I was actually willing to wait two weeks, at which point the explanation changed again and I was told I would receive a call back. The entire interaction felt inconsistent and evasive. I was left with the impression that the availability being communicated to me was not the same as what was being offered to other potential clients. To verify this, my mother called separately to inquire about scheduling a consultation, and she was apparently being moved forward with scheduling until she explained that the consultation would actually be for me. I was then contacted again and told that the firm was no longer accepting new clients. Whether there was a legitimate reason for the change or not, the way this was handled left a very bad impression. I understand that a law firm can choose which clients it takes on, and I have no issue with being told that they cannot represent me. What I do have an issue with is the lack of transparency and professionalism in how that decision was communicated. If a firm does not want to take a particular case, simply say so. There is no need to provide multiple explanations or make a potential client feel as though they are being given the runaround. I was seeking help with a serious family-law matter and was hoping to speak with a professional who could point me in the right direction. Instead, my very first interaction with the firm left me feeling dismissed and uncomfortable. Based on this experience alone, I would not recommend this firm. The consultation fee is also quite substantial, which makes the lack of professionalism during the initial intake process even more disappointing. Zero stars would be my rating if Google allowed it. —————————————————————————— After reading some of the other reviews, I’m honestly grateful that I did not move forward with this firm or give them any money. My experience trying to schedule a consultation was enough to make me realize that this was not a firm I felt comfortable trusting with something as important as my family-law matter. In hindsight, I’m actually thankful that my appointment was rescheduled and that I got to see how the intake process was handled before becoming a client. Everything happens for a reason, and I truly believe I avoided a much bigger headache by not moving forward. I would strongly encourage anyone considering this firm to read the reviews carefully and pay attention to how people describe their experiences—not just the services the firm advertises. Based on my experience, I believe David and Arian would benefit from additional ethics and client-intake training. The way my inquiry was handled raised serious concerns about professionalism, transparency, and how prospective clients are treated.

I’m giving two stars based only on my experience trying to schedule a consultation with this firm. I first contacted the office on August 7 about a family law matter in Menifee. They asked for my phone number, and I provided it right away. I followed up on August 13 and again on August 18. After calling several times on August 18, I was finally able to speak with Kate. Kate explained which attorneys were available and later told me that the attorney I originally wanted did not handle cases in Menifee. Before paying the $400 consultation fee, I asked what the available attorney charged per hour. That seemed like a basic and reasonable question because I did not want to spend $400 on a consultation only to find out afterward that the attorney was outside my budget. Unfortunately, I received three different answers. I was first told that she was not at liberty to discuss the hourly rate. I was then told that it was between $400 and $450, and after that I was told that she did not actually know the rate. About 20 minutes later, Kate called me back and confirmed that the attorney’s rate was $450 per hour. When we started discussing scheduling, I asked what the process was between booking the consultation and meeting with the attorney. I wanted to know when payment was due, whether I should provide a case summary beforehand, and whether the attorney would review anything before the meeting. Instead of simply explaining the process, I was told that nobody asks those questions and that she did not understand what I meant. The conversation felt increasingly argumentative, and I decided not to move forward with the firm. I never met with any of the attorneys, so I cannot comment on the quality of their legal work. My rating is strictly based on the intake and scheduling experience. For a $400 consultation involving a serious family law matter, I expected more timely follow-up, consistent information about pricing, and a straightforward explanation of the next steps.

Hughes and Jackson is an outstanding family law firm. The entire team is professional, responsive, and genuinely caring during a very stressful and emotional time. They explained every step clearly and were extremely diligent about keeping me informed during the entire process. They were prepared, confident, and were strong advocates for my best interests. I felt reassured knowing such professionals were on my side. If you’re in need of a family law firm that is the perfect combination of expertise, professionalism, and compassion, I highly recommend Hughes and Jackson. They exceeded my expectations in every way.

I interacted with this firm as opposing counsel in a high-conflict family law case. My experience was that communications were adversarial, dismissive, and escalated conflict rather than helping de-escalate a sensitive custody matter involving a minor child. I found the approach taken by this office to be unnecessarily aggressive toward a self-represented parent, and I did not feel professionalism or neutrality was maintained throughout the process. I believe family law matters require care, restraint, and a focus on the child’s best interests. That was not my experience here.
