My experience with Ms. Wells was extremely disappointing. She consistently failed to provide trauma‑informed representation, failed to challenge a completely false narrative framework, and left me unprotected at every stage of the process. Although these events occurred in 2018, it has taken me years to process and articulate what happened because the representation itself was retraumatizing.
The filings in my case were built on fabricated assumptions and condemning questions that had no basis in factual reality. I explained clearly that the material was triggering and impossible to answer accurately without legal guidance due to trauma‑related cognitive impairment. Despite promising to review the documents with me, Ms. Wells instructed me to complete them alone and never followed through.
During both the deposition and my testimony, the opposing attorney repeatedly brought up a deeply traumatic event from 2016 involving the loss of my dog — something unrelated to the case and introduced solely to destabilize me emotionally. Ms. Wells allowed this line of questioning without objection, without preparation, and without any trauma‑informed support, despite knowing the history and the impact it had on me.
I received no preparation, no strategy, and none of the evidence I provided was used. Her questioning of the opposing party avoided the issues that mattered and did nothing to correct the false narrative driving the case. In court, she offered no meaningful rebuttal, no contextual clarification, and no challenge to the assumptions embedded in the filings. She simply allowed the opposing narrative to stand unchallenged.
One of the most troubling moments was when Ms. Wells herself asked my child biased, leading questions that reinforced the false narrative rather than challenging it. Instead of protecting my child from being pulled into a distorted framework, she actively participated in it.
Throughout the entire process, Ms. Wells failed to:
provide trauma‑informed support
prepare me for deposition or court
use the evidence I gave her
challenge false or misleading claims
object to inappropriate or destabilizing questioning
advocate for me or my child
prevent the legal system from being misused as a tool of harassment
This case did not require litigation — the opposing party could have resolved the issue with a simple conversation. Instead, the court system was used as a means of control, and Ms. Wells did nothing to prevent or counteract that misuse.
Based on my experience, I cannot recommend Ms. Wells for any family law matter, especially those involving trauma, complex histories, or situations where an attorney must be willing to challenge false narratives and protect their client from further harm.
When the judge asked “hearing or stipulation,” Amanda immediately jumped in with “stipulation” before my child’s mother could even speak. The mother had never been served papers, the 72-hour law had already been violated and passed.and was at 192 hours, and DHS had no probable cause to remove our children. Those were winning arguments, but Amanda threw them away. Legally, that means DHS held your kids without timely judicial review, which is a due process violation and makes the continued custody unlawful. This failure deprived the mother of due process and requires dismissal and immediate return of the children.”
In my opinion, that wasn’t representation — it was collusion with the State. To me, it looked like she was protecting DHS and the court instead of her client. The State knew they had no case, and yet here comes a North Little Rock attorney stepping in as court-appointed counsel in Pope County.
From my perspective, Amanda’s conduct was a betrayal of her oath that left our children in DHS custody unlawfully. If you are looking for someone who will fight for you, I would look elsewhere.
Amanda is based in North Little Rock and works at a private firm, yet appeared as a court-appointed attorney in Pope County. That arrangement, combined with her failure to raise clear legal defenses, raises serious concerns about whether she complied with the standards of independence and conflict avoidance required by Administrative Order No. 15.
I cannot say enough wonderful things about Amanda. From our very first meeting, her professionalism shone through—yet she never made me feel rushed or like I was burdening her with too many details. She gave me the space to air my frustrations fully, listening with genuine empathy and patience. She then took my frustrations and turned them into actionable steps to get my kids out of a dangerous situation.
Most importantly, Amanda is exceptionally competent and efficient. She very quickly took me from a stressful, overwhelming situation and smoothed everything out with clarity and confidence. Every step of the process felt under control because she knew exactly what to do and how to do it.
Her supportive presence, sharp legal mind, and ability to act swiftly put me completely at ease—and ultimately led to a successful outcome. If you’re looking for an attorney who combines compassion with top-tier skill and efficiency, Amanda D. Kennedy is the one.
