Legally, I'm sure he's done no wrong.
I expressed when I came to Mr. Gaudin that I wanted an open adoption for my son and I wanted a couple who would be on board. After many months of growing a relationship with the adoptive mom, my son was born. When it came time to sign the paperwork, Baby boy five days old, it was changed up to say, "should they change their mind about an open adoption, I will take not retaliate." "I am not under the influence of narcotics," was also on there. (obviously under the influence of pain meds. I had just given birth.) I also had to attest that I was not under duress during signing this paperwork, as though if I didn’t sign it, I’d be able to pop my newborn in a nonexistent car seat and drive him straight home. I said, "this doesn't seem right!" The lady grinned and said, "are you going to sign it or not?" Now this was not someone at his firm, Rather the adoptive parents paid her to represent me—so she did not actually represent me because I didn’t pay her. his social worker had told me time and time again that they weren't just going to use me and shove me aside. After my son was born, I wanted to be sensitive to the new family and not step on any toes, so I called back the social worker who would tell me to call them, they were probably just busy. Never got a call back. Same thing happened every time I reached out to the social worker. I reached out to his personal assistant or secretary or paralegal or whoever she was, she told me that his business with me was done, he had no business with me because he didn't work for me. Maybe he had no idea what went on in his own office. And wants to manage the innocent lives of children and hopeful parents.
Mr Gaudin even had the nerve to mention in Baton Rouge Parents Magazine that a handshake is still legally binding. I pray no one else gets mislead and hurt like I was. Having the knowledge of what to do with a conscience is the only thing that kept me going over the years after such betrayal.
Since being a two-faced liar would not just make me a bad mom, but a Horrible person, I did not pursue that path. Not the kind of example to set for a child. I could not look myself in the mirror after giving someone the hopes and dreams that they would get to watch a beautiful child grow up and just take it away with no compassion. That would make me a bottom feeder, the lowest of the low.
He And his team have a lot to learn.
