When I hired Attorney Perez, I didn’t do much research beforehand and wasn’t sure what to expect. I decided to hire her based on a recommendation from someone I trust. Unfortunately, my experience was not what I anticipated.

Going through a divorce for the first time is already stressful, difficult, and emotionally draining especially when it involves deciding on child custody. In my opinion, the communication with Attorney Perez could have been better. It seems like their preferred method of communication is email, which sometimes led to misunderstandings or things getting lost in translation.

Another challenge was that Attorney Perez doesn’t have a full-time employee working in her office. Instead, she uses an answering service that only takes messages, and it can take 24–48 hours to get a response. While they didn’t always take the full 48 hours to reply, I did have to wait a day for some important questions to be answered, which was frustrating.

When it came time to submit my disclosures for the first hearing, I sent everything to the paralegal, Sarah, who confirmed via email that she received my signed copies and would submit them to the court. On the day of the hearing, even though I was told I didn’t need to be present, I decided to show up. Attorney Perez was over an hour late because she was at another courthouse with delayed hearings. The judge called all cases and sent us to recess, but there was still no word from her. The answering service could only take messages and the bailiff was asking me to try to get in touch with her directly.

She eventually appeared remotely and told the judge she was still waiting for me to submit my disclosures even though I had already sent them to Sarah. This caused a delay and resulted in a continuance, which felt like a waste of time. After court, I called Attorney Perez, and she said it takes time to upload disclosures electronically. Had she appeared in person, this likely wouldn’t have been an issue.

Ultimately, I decided to remove her from my case. If you’re looking for a more communicative and empathetic lawyer who offers in-person consultations and better responsiveness, I would suggest considering other options. That said, I will note that Attorney Perez and her team were always respectful and did provide the necessary information via email it just took longer than expected.

In our experience, despite repeated attempts, Kerenssa Perez failed to demonstrate a willingness to follow-up in a timely manner to phone calls or messages, leaving a client hanging repeatedly, when time was of the essence, and a family's future is on the line. Therefore, in good conscience, she cannot be recommended.

Attorney Perez and Paralegal Heather is the epitome of quality, professionalism and diligence.

I am so pleased that I was able to find Attorney Perez, not only was she punctual, but there was never a point in time where I had to wonder what was going on with my case or what was the best option to go forward with. She is super affordable for the level of services that she gives which exceeds excellence. She allowed a space for me to ask any questions that I had no matter how small or large they may have been, I am completely thankful to have her on my team and working on my case. If I know anyone who has a need for the type of legal services that she provides, I will definitely be recommending her hands-down. Her office is in San Diego, but she handled my case here in Riverside and did not miss a beat on anything.
