I normally don’t write reviews, but I feel it’s important to share my experience so others can make informed decisions.

I hired Brittany to represent me in a difficult divorce and custody case that stretched over nearly two years. I was upfront with Brittany about my desire to keep the fees down given the fact that I was paying for everything out of pocket and was the sole provider for my family.

Throughout the process, I raised repeated concerns about the Guardian ad Litem (GAL) appointed to my case. I consistently complained that the GAL was not advocating for my children — she never even spoke to them, yet was somehow in a position to decide what was in their “best interest.” Brittany’s response was not to protect me or my children from this failure of the system, but to defend the GAL’s involvement at every turn. To make matters worse, despite my explicit instruction that the GAL not attend mediation until non-custody issues were resolved, I was blindsided to find her present and actively involved the entire day. This derailed the process, increased conflict, and added thousands of dollars in unnecessary costs. Brittany disregarded my direct instructions and failed to advocate for me on this crucial issue. Of course, I was billed for Brittany's time, the GAL's time and the mediators time.

Beyond case strategy, what was most disappointing was her lack of humanity. She was well aware that I was dealing with a gravely ill mother throughout my case, and that after my mother passed away, I had to personally cover her funeral expenses. When I explained that these unexpected circumstances left me unable to immediately pay the remaining balance of my legal bill in full, I made a good faith settlement offer. Rather than simply declining, she responded with a hostile, condescending email filled with personal attacks, and immediately escalated the matter to a collections attorney.

I have already paid over $12,000 in fees and made every effort to resolve the balance reasonably. I never said I would not pay — only that I needed to revisit the numbers given the circumstances. Her response was insulting, dismissive, and entirely lacking in basic compassion.

In short: my experience was that Brittany was not client-centered, ignored instructions, overemphasized trial preparation over resolution, defended other professionals at my expense, and showed no compassion. If you are looking for an attorney who listens, advocates for you (not just the process), and treats clients with humanity, I cannot recommend her.
