went through this program during an eviction case and ultimately had a very strong outcome—my case was dismissed, I was able to keep my apartment, and I received rental assistance. For that, I’m genuinely grateful.

There are individuals within the program who are highly professional, responsive, and truly committed to helping. I’m especially thankful for Evan and June, whose consistency and support made a meaningful difference in my case.

At the same time, my overall experience was mixed. While the program is structured to prepare people for court, there were multiple instances where communication felt dismissive, follow-up was inconsistent, and accountability was lacking. At times, asking questions or seeking clarity felt discouraged rather than supported, which can be difficult when navigating an already stressful legal situation.

I also noticed that the level of support can vary significantly depending on who you are working with. Because of this, I would strongly encourage anyone entering the program to stay organized, document interactions, and advocate for themselves throughout the process.

There is real value in this program, and it can lead to positive outcomes. At the same time, there is room for growth in how clients are communicated with and supported to ensure the experience aligns more consistently with the mission.

Overall, I’m thankful for the outcome and for those who showed up with integrity along the way.

For the money the City and private altruists pay they shall do much better job. Much better. Well, at least they do something. And at least they are employed so far.
