I hired Erica Bloom to represent me in a custody matter, and unfortunately my experience was extremely disappointing. While some of the written paperwork she prepared was acceptable, I did not feel effectively represented in the courtroom. During hearings, there were multiple times when the judge asked questions and she redirected them to me rather than advocating or responding on my behalf. As a client who hired legal representation, I expected my attorney to speak and advocate for my position in court. Communication throughout the case was also frustrating. There were several instances where my emails went unanswered, leaving me unsure about strategy and next steps in my case. At the same time, I was billed for nearly every email or minor interaction, which made communication feel both difficult and expensive. This case involved custody and one of the most stressful periods of my life, as I was fighting for my children and their well-being. During such a critical and emotional time, I expected my attorney to take the matter seriously and provide strong guidance and advocacy. Unfortunately, I often felt that the seriousness of the situation was not reflected in the level of representation I received. Considering the cost of representation—approximately $400 per hour and around $20,000 in total fees—I expected a significantly higher level of advocacy and professionalism. During the last court hearing, she did not appear in person, despite my clear preference to attend a custody hearing in person rather than online. This added to my overall concern about the level of representation and commitment to my case. Overall, I did not feel that the level of representation matched the cost of the services. Legal representation is supposed to provide guidance, advocacy, and support during stressful situations, and unfortunately that was not my experience here. I ultimately felt that I was advocating for myself more than my attorney was advocating for me. For anyone seeking legal representation in a custody case, I would strongly encourage taking the time to find an attorney who is highly communicative, proactive, and fully prepared to advocate on your behalf in court. Based on my experience, I would not recommend her services.

I’m a mom, attorney, and owner of a mission driven business. I never post reviews, but felt compelled out of principle to warn others about my direct experience with Erica Bloom. This review is based entirely on her conduct and not on the outcome of any court ruling. It’s a matter of public record. While representing my ex, Erica repeatedly disregarded her professional obligations: 1) She refused to provide required financial disclosures, claiming prior documents from nearly a decade ago were “sufficient,” despite California Family Code §§2100 and 2030–2032 clearly requiring current income and expense declarations. 2) She advised my ex that a court ordered payment could be made in monthly installments directly contradicting CCP §685.020 that money judgments are payable within 30 days, unless otherwise specified. 3) She filed sworn statements filled with lies, disparaging my good name and character, even though she had evidence of the truth. Erica committed serious violations of her duty of candor and laws governing attorneys (Bus. & Prof. Code §6068(d); CCP §128.7). 4) She willfully ignored past court orders on record. This egregious misconduct allowed ongoing violations by my ex instead of upholding the law and acting in the best interests of my children. In CA, attorneys have a duty of honesty and integrity. Business & Professions Code §6068(d) requires lawyers to uphold the truth and never mislead the court, and Rule 3.3 of the California Rules of Professional Conduct imposes a duty of candor toward the court. Erica violated these laws. She filed opposition papers she knew were false with no evidence or exhibits to support them. Erica had a complete disregard for truth, justice, and her role as an officer of the court. In family law, where the legal standard is the best interests of the child, her conduct was reprehensible and dangerous. Erica undermined the integrity of the proceedings. I’m posting this review so others are aware of her serious violations of law and ethics and lack of integrity. I strongly caution against hiring Erica Bloom.

Highly recommended Atty! Erica’s my dad’s Atty for 3 years fighting for my sister’s custody. She also became my Atty with my recent child support case. She was very patient with us on explaining things and very detailed. She only does what’s needed and best for the families. I was confident with my dad’s and my case knowing that she’s our lawyer. She’s very friendly, easy to approach. Professional during court hearings. She’s just exceptional. I wouldn’t trust any atty other than her.

Erica came highly recommended by one of her colleagues. Needing an attorney for family issues is stressful while also feeling so vulnerable. She handled my situation with honesty and integrity. She would calm me down when I was very upset (true story :)) and helped me process each situation as they arose. I highly recommend Erica for any of your family needs!
