After years of hoping to start a family, we finally felt we were within reach. My wife and I have been trying to build a family through surrogacy. After six months of daily communication, we had developed a genuine friendship with two women who were willing and eager to be our surrogates. We invested nearly $20,000 in medical expenses to get them approved for the procedure. The final step before implantation was signing a contract — at which point the women hired Attorney Eric Stovall to represent them.

We paid $3,000 to have our attorney draft a comprehensive agreement covering every detail we had already agreed upon with the surrogates. Mr. Stovall then charged us nearly $4,000 — simply to read it. His premium pricing, however, is not our primary complaint.

Just before the women were ready to sign, Mr. Stovall's office accused us of failing to pay their fees and the women's lab costs. This painted my wife and me as delinquents. Within hours it became clear that his office was so disorganized they had never sent us an invoice or payment instructions. We also immediately produced receipts proving we had already paid for the medical tests. The damage, however, was done. Why would these women want to sign a contract with us if they believed we couldn't even pay their attorney on time?

That was not the worst of it. After just a few minutes with Mr. Stovall, the women's expectations shifted dramatically — they requested additional compensation amounting to tens of thousands of dollars above what we had already agreed upon.

I understand that as their attorney, it was proper for Mr. Stovall not to speak with me directly during negotiations. What I cannot understand is his complete silence afterward. Not a single word of acknowledgment — no apology, no explanation — despite the fact that the dynamic he created effectively torpedoed our family plans and cost us over $20,000. I have given Mr. Stovall several thousand dollars. To this day, I have never exchanged a single word with him.

Eric was great—clear, honest, and highly knowledgeable. As an attorney myself, I can confidently say his firm delivers exceptional service. Five stars!
