Today's Date: August 6, 2026 I reached out to Ms. Ellen K. Michaels on April 16, 2026 via email and phone, seeking legal representation for an ongoing case, having been impressed by her high-profile work with clients like Sherrone Moore. She called me from her office the following morning, April 17 at 10:19 am. After I explained the situation, she asked me to forward critical evidence, including City FOIA call logs, dispatch audio, and police lobby footage.However, the moment I mentioned my current budget of $1,500, the tone completely shifted. While she acknowledged that I had "been through the ringer" and understood why I was fighting the case, she abruptly claimed she was too busy to take it on. This contradicts her own website, which explicitly states she is actively seeking new clients. It is incredibly disheartening to be turned away under the guise of a "busy schedule" right after discussing finances. It feels as though because I am an African American managing financial constraints, my defense wasn't viewed as worth her time compared to her wealthier clients. Truly disappointing.
