Extremely Disappointed With My Experience With Michael and This Firm I would strongly encourage anyone considering Michael or this firm for a divorce or family-law case to do your homework before handing over a retainer. My experience was extremely disappointing. Michael requested a $4,500 retainer to handle one motion, and within roughly four weeks I received another bill for approximately $6,000. For the amount of money I was paying, I expected significantly better communication, preparation, and representation. Instead, I frequently had difficulty getting calls and texts returned, and I often felt like I was left trying to figure things out on my own. What disappointed me most was the lack of preparation and advocacy surrounding my children. The judge made it clear that consistent parenting time was important. I acknowledge that I violated an order of protection five times, and those violations had consequences. I am not trying to excuse that. However, there were periods when I could not see my children because of the resulting restrictions, including a new no-contact order and bail conditions. I felt Michael did not adequately fight to explain that situation or advocate for me regarding the parenting time I was missing. When I went to court, I did not feel prepared or properly represented. As a father desperately trying to maintain a relationship with my children, that was incredibly frustrating and heartbreaking. In my personal experience, I did not feel that Michael provided the level of preparation, communication, or courtroom advocacy I expected for what I was paying. The combination of the billing, lack of communication, and what I experienced as inadequate trial preparation left me extremely disappointed. This is my personal experience as a client, and I am sharing it so other people can ask very detailed questions about fees, communication, who will actually handle their hearing, and what trial preparation will look like before making the decision to hire this firm.

I would give one star, but I believe that the owner, Michal, genuinely does good work. I’m sure that his business has grown because he is good, but I did not have a good experience. I paid a retainer over two years ago for an easy job (a letter) that I knew I would need by the end of September of this year. Steve was assigned to my case. I reached out at the end of August (to both the office staff and Steve himself) and heard from him one time, even after calling, emailing, and leaving a message for follow up (3 times, total). This was over the span of WEEKS. He did, finally, attempt to schedule a meeting with me 9 days before I needed him. This would’ve put me out of work and my employer wouldn’t have accepted that. Very disappointed with the lack of urgency. I am now out nearly $1k in exchange for nothing.
