I recommend Deborah Dubroff and her team with the highest enthusiasm and confidence. One year ago, I found myself feeling deeply overwhelmed and unprepared in my mediated divorce that involved the complicated separation of assets between two professionals. The Dubroff staff quickly responded to my initial call and arranged a meeting with Deborah in the same week. Deborah was very quick to catch up on my situation, even though the mediation had been proceeding for many months. She helped me identify areas of concern in the separation documents and empowered me to negotiate much better terms for myself, without the need to move to a litigated divorce. Deborah provided me with examples of "typical" divorces and how certain assets are handled, as well as explanations of some of the complex legal concepts that I did not understand - something that our mediator did not offer. Deborah's style is warm, professional and respectful. I greatly appreciated that she did not condescend in her explanations and that she used our time extremely efficiently. The Dubroff team even performed the preparation of all our court documents when our mediator said that she wasn't eager to offer that service (!). Bringing Deborah onboard was the best thing that happened during my divorce and she was worth every reasonable cent that I paid. I dare say that she made a difficult, daunting process feel alright in the end.

There are many positive things to list about Deborah Dubroff’s work as a family attorney. Ethical, intelligent, strategic, and responsive are the main one’s.

First, some context. My case was not particularly complex, except for the continuous (over months) emotional roller coaster with so many questions and scenarios related to the outcome (s)of a divorce. There is money/asset division, a house, impact on a daughter, spousal support, the current legal framework, and demands being made by each party trying to maximize their situation going forward.

I interviewed four attorneys before choosing Deborah. My criteria that I used: the person should be a woman, at least 20 years of experience, strong but not to pursue “war” as an immediate tactic.

On the first working meeting (not our initial one), Deborah attentively and smartly put together both a strategic approach, the recommended steps to get there and the key tactics at hand. She does and did not waste time.
Her immediate counseling was for me to go down the mediator route (avoid attorney to attorney litigation). And at the same time, Deborah suggested that I entertain using her as the “consultant attorney”. She basically recommended the more efficient and very cost affective approach.

Engaging Deborah as my consultant to guide, advocate and review the materials from the ongoing mediation process worked out very, very well.

I'm very happy that I hired Rebecca Lovell and the Dubroff firm to represent me in my divorce. Rebecca clearly understood the law and the Alameda County family court system. She listened carefully and was on top of all of the imporant facts and legal issues. She and her staff were also very responsive when I had questions.
