I have known Douglas Isenberg for a little less than a year because he represented my wife during our divorce case.

From the very first conversation, he seemed like a nice person. But immediately afterward, his attitude toward me became extremely hostile. He used intimidation tactics and repeatedly threatened that I could end up in jail. Throughout the case, he pushed for extremely high financial demands against me, including large monthly support payments, giving up the house we had just purchased together, and handing over nearly $300,000 in equity.

Even after I agreed to give up the house and equity, it still was not enough. Additional lump-sum payments of around $100,000 were demanded, along with alimony requests of more than $5,300 per month.

What hurt the most is that nobody seemed to care whether I was financially or emotionally able to survive any of this. I explained many times that I could barely pay my own bills, that I was struggling mentally, and that my children were calling me asking for help buying food because I no longer had the ability to provide for them. My concerns were dismissed with comments like, “Divorce is not easy.”

After almost a year of court battles, harassment, and pressure, my life completely fell apart. I lost my home, my car, my ability to work, and most painfully, my relationship with my children.

I eventually had to leave the United States because I could no longer handle the financial and emotional pressure placed on me.
