So.... someone please explain this to me like I am 5.
In 2020, our divorce was final, my ex was to pay $XXX in child support. I said that seemed like a lot and offered for part of it to be a "daycare" payment that I would claim as income and he could deduct at tax time. This has lessened since kiddo has gotten older, as well. $1,772 for last year is all. Following?
Flash forward, 6 years later, ex is making $40k more a year and my income is still the same. I have no spouse, he is married. All things in our custody arrangement are the same as set in 2020: we split medical bills and activities 50/50 and ex covers insurance. The insurance is now state insurance and is approx $150 for medical/vision/dental. Meanwhile, I pay over $500 a month for just me now.
Ex hid this new job/income from me for over a year. So, I decided it was time to get child support re-evaluated. I did allllll the paperwork and sent it in. We had our first teleconference last week and the idiot lawyer LOWERS the suggested child support by $100.
Nothing has changed on my end, mind you- and everything costs more. I buy 90% of all of kiddo's clothing, etc. Please make it make sense? Anyone? Is this so I fight it? Because I will.
There's a reason this assigned lawyer has less than 2 stars on Google, I imagine. I did Ex a solid all these years by compromising on payments and then I get this? Nothing about this makes sense.
Furious.
