My experience with this firm has been very frustrating, especially with the communication since my case settled. This case started when my baby was only 3 months old. In just a few days, he will be 7 months old. I have not been working since I was pregnant, and throughout this entire process I have been trying to take care of my children while dealing with everything that came with the case. Bills don’t stop just because you’re waiting on a settlement. Before the case settled, I received plenty of communication from the firm. There were also two scheduled phone interviews that were missed, and I had to call the office myself to follow up. Josh also told me plenty throughout the case about what to expect, so I trusted that I would continue to be kept informed. The case settled on August 21, and I signed the settlement agreement on August 28. Other than that agreement, I have received no paperwork regarding the settlement, no written accounting showing what was received or deducted, and no clear information about when my portion would actually be released. Last week, I was told that the settlement checks had been received. I’ve called multiple times since then and have had to leave voicemails just to get an update. I’m still waiting on my settlement . I’m not asking for anything unreasonable. I need to know where my settlement stands and when I can expect my money. I have bills due, and telling my landlord that I’m waiting on a settlement doesn’t pay the rent or keep a roof over my children’s heads. What is especially frustrating is the change in communication. Before the case settled, I felt like I was constantly hearing from the firm. Now that the case has settled and the checks have reportedly been received, getting a basic update has become difficult. I understand that there can be processing involved after a settlement. What I don’t understand is the lack of communication and the absence of documentation. If there is something still holding up my disbursement, I should be told what it is. If everything is cleared, I should be given a timeframe. This experience has been extremely disappointing, particularly because this settlement matters to my family right now. I simply expected the same level of communication after the case settled that I received before it did.
