Deborah Fortune represented my little sister for years. She then represented my middle sister when she needed a financial POA and medical POA due to illness. Deborah, at first visit properly interviewed my middle sister in private. Her wishes were recorded in the legal documents. The little sister felt left out. Flash forward to now. Small details needed to be attended to in one of the documents. Little sister went into the conference room with Deborah Fortune and middle sister. Deborah Fortune did not ask for privacy for Middle sister. Middle sister was not given the freedom to speak her desires in private. Middle sister was in a coercive environment with little sister in the room. She reversed decisions on all documents, no simple addition as was originally planned. Middle sister has impared cognition and should not have been qualified to make those decisions. These events have changed the trajectory of Middle sisters life, permanently. 2 big problems exist here. #1 There was a conflict of interest with 2 clients in the room, and #2 a lack of ethical consideration with no privacy given to Middle sister.
