I fired my previous attorney and hired Mike with court dates and discovery deadlines already looming. He immediately jumped in and got things on track. What I now realize about family law attorneys is that responsiveness is everything, and you don’t know that until you’ve had a lawyer who goes dark. Mike answered questions from the initial consult through cutting the check on my remaining retainer at the end, evenings and weekends included. My first lawyer (and my spouses first lawyer!) went dark for WEEKS. It never occurred to me that was even a possibility, and it made an already stressful situation even worse... His rate is on the high side, but he bills in small, fair increments and pushes work to lower-rate staff when it doesn’t need his attention. This is one of the good examples of "you get what you pay for." He knows the judges and the other family law attorneys in Manassas, consistently counseled de-escalation, and stayed focused on settlement instead of dragging things out. He also handles criminal matters, which in family law can matter more than you’d expect. Wish I’d hired him first.
