I retained Daprile Bell Family Law Offices and specifically hired Ms. Raechelle Velarde for an urgent family law matter, paying a $10,000 retainer. Within a very short time, most of this money was consumed by administrative charges, internal handling, scheduling, and routine emails, with little meaningful legal work to show for it. The billing was extremely expensive, disproportionate, and did not reflect real progress on my case. After retaining the firm, my case was largely left without consistent attorney oversight. Communication was poor, important emails and requests for guidance went unanswered, and critical issues were not addressed in a timely manner. Most concerning was the firm’s failure to take timely action regarding a subpoena to my employer. Because deadlines were missed, my employer was compelled to produce broad and sensitive employment records that should have been reviewed and addressed earlier. This caused unnecessary professional, financial, and personal harm and forced me to retain new counsel at additional cost. Despite paying premium rates, I did not receive professional, proactive representation. I was billed heavily while urgent legal matters were neglected. After terminating the representation due to lack of progress, I requested a refund. The firm refused to provide a meaningful refund despite the lack of substantive service. My experience was that this firm prioritizes billing over results, with little accountability when things go wrong. I strongly caution anyone considering this firm to carefully evaluate their billing practices, responsiveness, and availability before retaining them.
