I used to believe this was one of the best law firms in the 209, but unfortunately my experience — and watching a close friend go through the same thing completely changed my opinion. Communication was poor, billing felt excessive, and there was very little transparency about costs or strategy. Instead of feeling guided through a difficult custody/divorce process, it often felt like the case was being prolonged unnecessarily while fees continued to add up. What frustrated me most was the lack of honesty and upfront communication. You put your trust in an attorney during one of the hardest times in your life, and I never felt like our best interests were the priority. If you are dealing with a custody battle or divorce, I would strongly encourage you to do your research, read all reviews carefully, and explore other options before hiring Coenenburg Law.

I don’t usually leave negative reviews, but I feel obligated to share my experience so others can make an informed decision. The attorney was personable and easy to talk to at first, which is what led me to hire her. However, if I had taken more time to read through prior reviews, I likely would have made a different choice. Throughout my case, I felt like I was being nickel-and-dimed with charges that were not clearly explained upfront. There were multiple unexpected fees and billing entries that added up quickly, and it often felt like I was being charged for things that should have been communicated more transparently. More concerning was the overall handling of my case. At times, it felt like the situation was beyond her depth, and I did not feel confident in the direction things were going. I was also given a level of optimism about my case that, in hindsight, did not align with reality. Additionally, there were errors in documents that required correction, which only added to the frustration and cost. I understand that legal services are a business, but I expected clearer communication, better organization, and more honesty about expectations and costs. I would strongly encourage others to carefully review all feedback and ask detailed questions about billing and strategy before moving forward.

I’m writing this on behalf of a close friend who hired this attorney and deeply regrets it. What was supposed to be a straightforward case has been dragged out unnecessarily, with constant billing and very little meaningful progress. In the summer she is on vacation after vacation. Her paralegal is also a coach at CrossFit excel with the time off for her augmentation it just seems like they drag every thing on and just makes it super expensive and give you false hope. She regrets hiring her but would never tell her that or want her to know that she wishes she hired someone better. If your case is simple and you don’t expect much resistance, this may work for you. But if you need someone strategic, assertive, and truly fighting for your best interests, you may want to think carefully and do thorough research other attorneys in the area Proceed with caution
