⭐ 1 STAR — I would not recommend this firm. My experience with this Capital injury law was extremely disappointing. After being represented for more than a year following my car accident, I walked away feeling that this firm did little, if anything, to actually advocate on my behalf. One of my biggest concerns was discovering that a brand-new paralegal with no prior experience negotiating personal injury settlements was handling negotiations with the insurance company. After more than a year of representation, my case ultimately settled for essentially the exact same amount the insurance company had offered as its preliminary settlement a year prior. That left me questioning what benefit I received from having an attorney represent me in the first place. Even more frustrating, the attorney’s fees would have resulted in the firm receiving more from the settlement than I would. I had to fight to have their fees reduced. They eventually gave me a $500 credit, which was basically the only reason I was able to come close to breaking even after everything was said and done. Communication throughout the process was horrible. I regularly had to call and email repeatedly, sometimes for weeks, before receiving a response. I never felt informed about what was happening with my case, and I certainly did not feel like I had an attorney actively fighting for my interests. I was originally referred to this firm through the chiropractic office where I was receiving treatment. Based on how the entire experience unfolded, I personally came away feeling like it was a bait-and-switch situation. I trusted that I was being referred to an experienced attorney who would advocate for me, and that was not my experience. For comparison, I previously used another personal injury attorney, Harold Carr, years ago for an accident involving less significant injuries, and that case resulted in a settlement approximately five times larger than what I received here. I understand that every accident and claim is different, so I am not suggesting the results should have been identical. However, the difference in advocacy, communication, and my overall experience was significant. I am seriously considering filing a complaint with the appropriate Bar Association regarding what I believe may have been negligence and misrepresentation in the handling of my case. People seeking personal injury representation are often already dealing with pain, financial stress, and uncertainty. They deserve an attorney who communicates with them, advocates for them, and makes them feel that someone is actually fighting on their behalf. I did not feel that I received any of those things from this firm. If I could go back and make the decision again, I would have chosen different representation.

I was diagnosed with FTD (dementia) I had been denied twice. I had worked in law enforcement for 36 1/2 years. I was 58 when I was diagnosed. I lost my career and had to apply for retirement early. Marisa did a great job explaining to the judge my condition and the discrepancies in the reports from the DSHS doctors and my team of doctors. I received payment quickly after the judgement and will qualify for Medicare in November as well. I would highly recommend Marisa Burkett if you’re battling SSDI for disability claim.
