I hired Donna Buchholz in March of 2025 to represent me in a contentious divorce. It was a short marriage, and the only issue was equitable distribution, so it should have been a lot easier than most divorces. During our consultation, she said all the right things, and I thought I was going to get an aggressive lawyer who was going to take the time to understand what was going on in the divorce and give me the best guidance and advice to get the best possible outcome… Boy was I wrong! Here are a few examples. Donna said she knew a good mediator that would that we could hire for mediation. A mediator that wouldn't stand for my now ex-wife's often vague, noncommittal, beating-around-the-bush type answers. That didn't happen. The mediator we had was a friend of opposing counsel! Communication was also a significant issue. Many of the questions I sent Donna went unanswered. In my experience, her representation focused primarily on completing the procedural requirements of the divorce mandatory disclosure, mediation, and forwarding documents received from opposing counsel rather than discussing strategy, explaining my options, or helping me evaluate important decisions in the case. She just wanted to get through mediation and collect a check. Donna repeatedly told me that approximately 95% of divorces resolve at mediation. I repeatedly explained that, based on my knowledge of the situation, I did not believe my ex-wife had any intention of settling….Guess who was right…. The case did not settle and went to trial. After the first mediation session, Donna withdrew from my case. As a result, I attended the second mediation without an attorney approximately one month before trial. At that stage of the proceedings, finding a competent attorney willing and able to take over a contested divorce case on such short notice was extremely difficult. Throughout the representation, I repeatedly asked Donna to take a more proactive approach when deadlines were missed or other issues arose. I even drafted motions myself in an effort to reduce the amount of work required from her and asked that they be reviewed and filed. They were not filed. From my perspective, opportunities to address problems during the litigation were repeatedly allowed to pass without meaningful action. She let my ex-wife and her attorney walk all over us. I could not recommend Donna less. Stay far, far away if you want someone who will assist you with getting the best possible outcome in your divorce. I strongly advise against hiring Donna Buchholz if you want a good outcome in your divorce. -5 stars for Donna. However, on a positive note, Jeffrey, her assistant, was consistently helpful and hardworking throughout my dealings with the office. My experience with him was excellent, and I would give Jeffrey five stars.

Donna and her team helped me through a very volatile divorce, without her, I would have not have the chance to get my life back.

From the beginning, Donna was leveled and upfront with me. Upon 1st consultation, I already had dispelled many worries. She always had me very well aware of my legal rights and correct actions to take.

Her legal expertise did wonders to help me keep calm. That way I was able to make non-emotional, informed decisions, to which she followed with prompt filing and efficiency.

In the end, I got divorced with the fairest outcome! . . . and I can continue my life in peace

I do not recommend. Reached out for assistance, was called 20 minutes after scheduled appointment time. From the start it was clear Donna did not want to take on my inquiry, she immediately told me she doesn’t do these cases and asked me to send her paperwork. Sent the paperwork to her and she told me that the papers state someone else is my attorney (It does not say that) I asked her where does she see that information and she dismissed me and said I’m welcome to get a 2nd opinion. Appears they are less about family law and more towards divorces.

Donna helped me through a very difficult and long divorce. Donna has excellent communication and always had my best interest at hand. She was very good at keeping me calm during a very stressful and one sided divorce. Donna was able to defend my rights and keep me protected from a very unreasonable ex wife. I am thankful Donna took my case!
