My dear (77 yr old) friend had a meeting with Mr Huffman to create a living. That was nearly 6 months ago. She did not receive follow-up correspondence from him or their office. Nearly 3 months after, she had inquired as to the progress of her trust and was told that Mr Huffman had been "pulled away" to another project and would work on it soon. Nearly 2 more months went by without correspondence from him or the firm. My friend realized that her trust creation was of low priority to Mr Huffman, so she called to request a refund for the work not being completed. She was denied a refund, being told the work was (nearly) complete. With this extreme delay and lack of care shown, my friend had little confidence or trust in his work going forward. After having 6 months of her precious time wasted by Mr Huffman, she has hired a new attorney to create her living trust.

I'm confused as to why any attorney would not consider it a priority to complete a living trust for their 77 yr old client? Why commit to the work, then not deliver in a timely manner? As there was no prior consultation, why did Mr Huffman insist she pay in advance of any work being done? These questions will be posed to the Oregon State Bar Association when her complaint is filed.
