I participated in a deposition conducted by attorney Robert Berry in connection with the Darlington case. It’s important to note that the underlying facts of the abuse itself were not being disputed; the legal questions centered on the school’s knowledge and potential liability.

Given that context, I found Mr. Berry’s tone and approach during the deposition to be unnecessarily aggressive, particularly when addressing highly sensitive subject matter.

While I understand that depositions are inherently adversarial, the manner in which the questioning was conducted felt excessive and, at times, added unnecessary distress to an already difficult process. In my view, it went beyond what was needed to clarify facts and felt more focused on applying pressure than on obtaining information.

Others may have different experiences, but this was mine.
