As multiple past customers have reflected in their reviews, I would recommend staying away from this firm, mainly due to dealing with Marsha. After multiple requests, both email and office voicemails (they never seemed to pick up their phone, especially around lunch) requesting closing documents needed (electronic copies of seller closing docs), I received a voicemail from Marsha that was absolutely bizarre. Stumbling over her words and not making much sense, she kept reiterating that I "was not, under any circumstances, getting the buyer's documents sent to me". This was never a request and one that I and any reasonable individual wouldn't expect. Her demeaning and condescending tone was something I'm not sure I've seen before from a so-called professional. I simply wanted the closing documents that they were paid to prepare and execute emailed to me for when I needed them for tax time. This is a request that most firms operating past the year 2000 can reasonably accommodate within about 5 minutes. Marsha acted like she needed to move heaven and earth to get this done and still seemed to be confused as to why I was requesting this. Very odd and unnerving experience. Save yourself the headache and just go somewhere..anywhere...else.

BEWARE! This law firm created the most stressful real estate closing, I have ever experienced, and I am the fool who didn’t read reviews first. YES, I hired them. I provided Marsha Hearl, deeds in my chain of title. I made that part easy. She quoted one fee and changed it on the settlement documents. She would not respond to phone calls or emails. I literally begged her to provide information regarding the title examination so that I would know if the real estate transaction would close. I had to sell equities and will have tax consequences, so I wanted information to be timely. Nothing, no response. The day before the closing I sought other firms to do the closing. THAT IS HOW DESPERATE I WAS TO GET TITLE INFORMATION. I WAS WILLING TO PAY A PREMIUM FOR ANOTHER FIRM TO HELP ME AT THE LAST MINUTE. THE RUDENESS, THE UNPROFESSIONALISM IS BEYOND WORDS. Now one month later, I had to request a copy of my recorded deed. I have no update on the title, no information from her that the taxes were paid and the mortgage was released. I questioned the secretary about it. Marsha called me back to scream that I don’t get a copy of the mortgage release and I don’t get an update on the title. I don’t know if I can file a bar complaint for this firm failing to communicate and failing to complete the task, but I know one thing, she sure tried to pull one over on me for the fee. I paid the increase, that was not agreed upon, because I had to obtain a cashier’s check for the closing and was traveling two hours to get to there. My bank did not have branches in Virginia. I did let her know about the discrepancy. I did get a refund for the overpayment. Please, DO NOT PUT YOURSELF THROUGH THE STRESS THIS MARSHA PERSON WILL CREATE. SHE IS NOT AN ATTORNEY. SHE IS THE WIFE OF THE ATTORNEY. HE IS RESPONSIBLE FOR SUPERVISING HER WORK AND TRAINING HER TO SHOW A LITTLE PROFESSIONALISM. I FIND IT HARD TO BELIEVE ANYONE WOULD VOLUNTARILY GIVE THIS FIRM A FIVE STAR REVIEW. I SAY BEWARE!

Mr. Hearl is the Real Estate Expert in SWVA. Above and beyond for anyone even if he is not handling the closing directly. Knowledge is unmatched in this area and always does an excellent job.
