I wish I could say that working with Mr. Abell was a positive experience, but unfortunately it was not. Based on my experience, I would strongly discourage others from retaining his services.

When I first met with Mr. Abell, he appeared compassionate and attentive. He listened to my situation regarding ongoing post-divorce issues and seemed genuinely interested in helping me resolve them. We discussed the details of my case, agreed upon a retainer fee, and outlined a path forward. The cost wasn't to significant, but I was willing to invest in legal representation to finally put this matter behind me.

Some circumstances changed and we encountered a major obstacle: we could not proceed without first locating my ex-spouse and certain property of mine that remained in her possession.

At that point, I suggested several possible methods for locating my property, including using the FordPass application connected to my truck. Since the vehicle was my property, I believed it was a reasonable option to discuss. Mr. Abell disagreed, which was his prerogative, but when I asked for clarification as to why that approach could not be used, I felt I was spoken to in a dismissive and condescending manner. Rather than receiving a professional explanation, I left the conversation feeling as though my concerns and questions were unwelcome.

Instead, Mr. Abell recommended conducting a skip trace. Approximately a week later, his office informed me that a location had been identified and that we could move forward. I received an email indicating that I could call the office to make a payment so the next steps could begin.

This is where my experience took an unexpected turn. When I called to make the payment, the secretary provided an amount that differed slightly from the figure Mr. Abell and I had previously discussed. Before authorizing the charge, I simply asked that the amount be verified with Mr. Abell. The secretary was literally prepared to process my payment, and I felt it was reasonable to seek clarification regarding a discrepancy, however small.

After a brief wait, the secretary returned to the phone and informed me that Mr. Abell was suddenly too busy to give my case the attention it required and recommended that I find another attorney.

To say I was shocked would be an understatement. One moment, I was being asked to make a payment and proceed with my case; the next, I was being told to seek representation elsewhere because I had asked a simple question about billing. The timing and manner in which this was handled struck me as abrupt, unprofessional, and lacking basic courtesy.

I understand that attorneys have the right to decline representation and manage their caseloads as they see fit. However, after investing both time and money into the process, I expected clearer communication and a more professional approach. Instead, I was left feeling dismissed and abandoned over what should have been a routine request for clarification.

Based on my experience, I cannot recommend Mr. Abell.

Family law matters are stressful and emotional, but Gary took the time to explain every step clearly and made sure I felt confident and informed throughout the process.

I went in to see Mr abell and I felt all was lost. I had not been able to see my kids for 5 months. Mr. Abell assured me that everything would be OK. him and his team got busy and got me the results that was needed. I read some of the reviews on here. And it may seem like he is not working for you. Because he don’t agree with everything we feel to be right. He does what’s in the best interest of the children involved!! And I for one appreciate the way him and his staff made me feel like I was family. I would recommend him to all my friends and family.
