I was represented by Aaron Wise in Jackson County case 2025-DV-000074. My case was later dismissed by nolle prosequi.

On Sept. 11, 2025, I emailed Mr. Wise a detailed written statement, injury photos, and specific preservation/discovery requests, including bodycam, dashcam, 911 audio, CAD/dispatch logs, reports, statements, prior related calls, and possible nearby video. That same email explained that I had text messages from before my father arrived showing that I did not feel safe, that I wanted to leave, and that my car would not start.

On Nov. 6, 2025, I sent Mr. Wise a detailed memo about my arrest, jail detention, phone-access issues, suicide-watch/mental-health cell conditions, release conditions, and the need to preserve jail records/video.

My concern is not that I raised these issues after the case was over. I raised preservation and discovery issues early and repeatedly, while evidence was still time-sensitive.

After the case was already resolved, Mr. Wise wrote that he had requested videos, never received them, and that videos “should not have been deleted.” In my opinion, that after-the-fact explanation does not answer the key questions: what exactly was requested, when, from whom, whether jail footage and related logs were included, whether any follow-up occurred, and why I was not clearly informed earlier.

Based on my experience, I believe communication, diligence, and evidence-preservation follow-through were seriously inadequate. I have filed a complaint with the Illinois ARDC.
